In the Decemeber / January issue of Complex Magazine (newsstands on Dec. 12), Lil' Wayne (AKA, Weezy F. Baby....AKA "the Best Rapper Alive") had this to say about Jay-Z's 'comeback,' Pharrell, and The Clipse:
"I'm better than him, I'm 24 years old. ... I'm 13 years deep with five albums and 10 million records sold. I don't like what he's saying about how he had to come back because hip-hop's dead and we need him...What the f--- do you mean? If anything it's reborn, so he's probably having a problem with that. You left on a good note, and all of the artists were saying, 'Yo, this is Jay's house. He's the best.' Now he comes back and still thinks it's his house. ... It's not your house anymore, and I'm better than you."
"I don't see no fucking Clipse. This is a fucking legend you're talking to right here. How many years them n***** been around? Who the fuck is
Pharrell? Do you really respect him? That n**** wore BAPE and y'all thought
he was weird. I wore it and y'all thought it was hot. What I gotta go in the store and say, 'I like these colors but I can't buy them because other rappers wore them?'"

Thanks for the props. You know I was gonna mention T.I. (and Lil Bow Wow as well) but both have proven to be false in the past day or so...no speculation hear at The Quotable!
Either way, these southern artists are on top of rap music right now (by sales figures) and they want to stay there. I can understand how the theme of Kingdom Come and the title of Nas's album (Hip Hop is Dead...The N) could ruffle a few feathers. To them its a sign of disrespect to hear the two most respected MCs alive take the stance the rap music has fallen off just as the South finally gets its moment to shine. (In a lot of ways this is similar to when Common made I Used To Love H.E.R. and pissed off the ENTIRE WEST COAST!) Everyone's gotta rep for their hood...and at least Weezy has a point.
I'm not mad at this one though. Lil' Wayne is a dope lyricist and a large part of me hopes this plays out on wax. Lyrics based beef is part of hip hop history...thats how disagreements used to be settled...and at least this time, everyone involved can really spit (of course if the Weezy ghostwriter rumors are true...then scratch everything I've just said).
